365 Studio: A Celebration of Ergonomics and Thoughtful Design

Olga Bogdanova's Award-Winning Beauty Studio Revolutionizes the Salon Experience

365 Studio, designed by Olga Bogdanova, is a unique beauty salon that redefines the traditional salon experience. Its innovative design allows for parallel processes, enabling up to five professionals to work with a single client simultaneously. This article delves into the inspiration, unique properties, and realization technology behind this groundbreaking design.

365 Studio draws its inspiration from the beauty industry's complexity, likened to a well-orchestrated pit stop in Formula-1 racing. The design's unique properties lie in its ability to facilitate multiple procedures at once, such as manicure, pedicure, hair dying, eyebrows, and makeup, all within a one or two-hour timeframe. This approach necessitates a perfectly logical space where several professionals can work within a square meter, making 365 Studio a testament to ergonomics and thoughtful process planning.

The realization technology behind 365 Studio's design is as impressive as its functionality. The project's key element, a stair with a green steel banister, required a part of the floor above to be cut out and the building construction reinforced. The steel sheets for the banister were cut and bent in advance, then welded on site. The joints were then primed and mopped, similar to automotive manufacturing, highlighting the meticulous attention to detail in the design process.

365 Studio, located in central Kyiv, Ukraine, covers a total of 250 square meters. The ground floor houses the main reception, a waiting room with a bar, a manicure hall, a sterilization room, and a spacious men's zone with a separate entrance. The first floor accommodates a female manicure and pedicure hall, a makeup and hairdressing area, a VIP room, a kitchen, a relaxation space for staff, a sterilization room, and a color bar for mixing hair dyes.

The design's interaction is centered on ergonomics, with every centimeter and the best swinging angle of the pedicure chair calculated for optimal comfort for both clients and professionals. The design's underlying research focused on the busy lives of city dwellers who value their time and demand high-quality service. The aim was to create a space where high service quality, speed, and maximum comfort coexist harmoniously.

365 Studio's design faced challenges in ensuring the comfort of customers and professionals. The team overcame these by calculating every detail, even testing the correct swing of the pedicure chair on a real-size model. The studio's interior, particularly the stair with a green steel banister, is a key element that adds dynamics and continuity to the space. The studio's design, reminiscent of a Formula-1 pit stop, ensures that customers feel calm and trustful while professionals work.

365 Studio's innovative design has not gone unnoticed. It was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advance art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
